Yesterday, Mayor Gavin Newsom giddily unveiled some sort of Green Vehicle Showcase, ushering in bragging rights for SF to call itself the "EV Capital of the U.S." Which is to say, there are now plug-in stations at City Hall for your ass-ugly Prius. Yay! Rick Hutchison, CEO of City CarShare, hawks, "The combination of responsible car sharing and low emission vehicles such as this one will improve the environment as well as the quality of life for all San Franciscans." Curbed goes on to point out that "the showcase will be used for a two-year demonstration of the technology; city vehicles will charge there, and so will City CarShare and Zipcar." Conversely, you can be even greener by taking public transit, riding a bike, or walking.
