Prop 8's Forced-Divorces Will Break Our Hearts

"Fidelity": Don't Divorce... from Courage Campaign on Vimeo.
We dare you to watch the Courage Campaign's Fidelity video and not get all weepy. We were able to keep it together until it got to the big crowd shots around the end, and then suddenly there was something in our eye.

March 5 is the big day -- that's when the Supreme Court will hear arguments about Prop 8. You can read the schedule here. There's a lot of work to do before the hearing, and Equality California's prepping for the big day with five actions -- now's a crucial time to spread the word about how much pain Prop 8 will inflict when it takes away all those marriages. And the Peninsula Marriage Equality Coalition has a bunch of handy workshops coming up about how to persuade allies.

And speaking of spreading the word, an excellent article in this week's Stranger points out that a key component in achieving lasting civil equality is an educated electorate. To that end, we hope you're participating in Tell3, a brilliant campaign to educate your family and friends about why civil rights matter to you personally. "We used to think coming out would win us our rights," the site says. "Now we know it takes more than that." Get to work, everybody!

"All weepy" in under 30 seconds, the rest was blurred due to my bawling like a baby.

Me too! Don't break my heart...

I saw kids with signs like these at the big, post-election Prop 8 march and tears hit me from out of nowhere. I already knew why I was at the march and what I expected to see/hear, but seeing kids, who were old enough to know what was happening, making a statement to keep their parents together- ugh, I had tears running down my face within seconds. I even took a one-block detour off the march route because I figured that no one wants to see an adult man crying on the street.

You need to hand out hankies with the post. Already posted to profile and forwarded to everyone on my friend's list.

It's not a matter of "when it takes away all those marriages", it's IF they take away all those marriages.

Lets not call such a bad shot before the smoking gun is drawn, cause someone is going to take the bullet, and I'd rather not see it put out there in the ethers post haste, that it's the gay community.

Thanks!

Well that makes perfect sense to me.
