UPDATE: Bart Gun Shirt

bart gun logo.jpg

Matthew Williams, created of this controversial-ish Bart gun shirt, talked to SFist today. One thing Williams wanted to point out is that all the proceeds from the Bart shirt are "being donated to Oscar Grant's family." So, to those of you who thought he was profiting from the shirt, rest assured that you're wrong. If you want to get one of your own, check out Matthew Did That for more details.

But is it printed on an American Apparel shirt? Because, if so - I'm IN!

Speaking of which, have you heard of the AA they're going to build on Valencia?!?!?! OMG AA AA AA AA AA AA AA woooooodkasdokasdkasdl AA AA AA

So was this like an interview, or are you just bragging?

No thanks. I still think it's tasteless.

Brock, the other article you posted I think had a link to the guy's website saying the proceeds were going to his family. So that's cool. Although it's great and well intentioned gesture, he could just as easily be sending the money to Darfur, limbless children in the Congo or whatever other sob story du jour. I seriously doubt there is really any intention to focus on helping the family in any measurable way. Rather it's to get people off his back while driving people to his site to sell this shirt.

And the question is, does the family really want the proceeds from the sale of this shirt? I'm confident the answer is no.

"I seriously doubt there is really any intention to focus on helping the family in any measurable way."

Seeing as how true altruism doesn't exists, I agree with you.

Actually, there are tons of altruism acts occurring hourly, every day in this fine city--it is what makes this place tick. However, the sale of this t-shirt likely isn't one of them.

I am so relieved to hear you questioning the wisdom of associating oneself with that t-shirt.

I was beginning to regret my purchase. Feeling much better about it now.

Awesome! I'm happy to be the power you're compelled to fight against. It must be deeply satisfying for you to finally have a purpose in life.

Actually the happiness is about the appreciation of snark, but whatever gloats your boat.

Any other judicious thoughts? Because all of your comments seem to be a variation on that theme, and you know ... was just wondering if you've got anything else.

Anything at all.

I'm already making my contribution via the portion of my fare going to the inevitable huge settlement. Thanks, though.
