SFist Tonight

FILM: Depression and suicide has never been more amusing ("French fries, French dressing, French bread.") than in Savage Steve Holland's Better Off Dead (1985). The '80s teen comedy / ski competition screens as part of SF Sketchfest, with tonight's film featuring writer/director Holland and actress Diane Franklin (Monique Junot!) in person for a Q&A / chat.

9:45 p.m. // Castro Theatre (Castro & Market) // $10.50

FREE VODKA: Some sort of Han Vodka tasting is happening downtown tonight. Also on the bill: "$3 bottles of Newcastle, chair massages, new art," and more.

5 p.m. - 9 p.m. // MR: Barbershop & Urban Lounge (560 Sacramento Street) // free

ART: Nine Scandinavian Modern artists show off their works at "Irreverent: Contemporary Nordic Craft Art." But sleek and icy this ain't. These artists use camp, color, and intricacy. Artists include Frida Fjellman (Sweden), Tuva Gonsholt (Norway), Eva Hild (Sweden), Per Lysgaard (Norway), Trine Mauritze Erikson (Norway), Louise Nippierd (Norway), Anders Ruhwald (Denmark), Ulla West (Sweden), Anni Rapinoja (Finland), and Janna Syvanoja (Finland).

6 p.m. // YBCA Galleries (701 Mission) // $7

Irreverent contemporary nordic craft art is driving irreverent contemporary mom and pop craft art out of our neighborhoods. Keep San Francisco twee!

Also tonight, Amy Sedaris at the Herbst. Yay!
