Emerson Portillo, 24, of San Francisco, and Deonte Bennett, 24, of Oakland were arrested yesterday in connection with allegedly planning to kill Portillo's ex-girlfriend for $5,000. The failed hired hit almost happened on Friday when Bennett picked up the woman. Once inside the car, Bennett told her Portillo ordered him to kill her. The woman told Bennett she would pay him $2,500 not to kill her, according to reports. After going to her Bayview home and paying him several hundred dollars, Bennett let her go. She later called the police to report what had happened. Both men were booked on charges of "attempted murder, murder for hire, conspiracy and false imprisonment, and remain in custody." And Bennett was charged with "kidnapping, assault with a firearm, robbery, attempted extortion and drug possession."

Will she get her money back?
You would think she would offer at least as much NOT to kill her as her boyfriend was offering to kill her.
The would be assassin needs a lesson on basic economics. I am surprised the victim didn't offer to kill herself and split the $5k with the guy.
Maybe the dude thought that thou shalt not be greedy was a commandment, too.
I really, really hope someone makes a TV movie about this.
