These trains are paid for by private funds and donated to Muni to run. You can join the Market Street Railway association for something like $100 / year min and get a newsletter on the trains. The funds go to pay for the trains.

AHEM! Market Street Railway pays for the old skool cars on the line. So cut the crap about how MUNI "wastes money" on the old skool lines. Carry on.

I saw that today at the Ferry building. Looks like Muni is not putting it on the full route, just the wharf portion (Ferry to Fisherman's Wharf).
