Erected 'Abortion Hurts Women' Billboard Tries to Shock Bay Area

abortion is murder and fun.JPG

Pro-abortion folks got an eyeful this week when a mammoth pro-life poster was erected in San Francisco on December 31. The 20-foot x 60-foot billboard can be seen by more than 100,000 vehicles on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge overpass at Fourth and Bryant Streets in San Francisco.

In addition to shaming ladies into keeping their babies, the billboard is also ad for the fun-filled Walk for Life West Coast, taking place on January 24. The Walk for Like West Coast is an annual excursion of crazy people on both sides of the abortion argument who gather in San Francisco once a year to incoherently scream at one another.

The ad features a bunch of females carrying a banner reading, "Abortion Hurts Women." Of course, one has to know that lack of access to birth control hurts more women than abortion does. But we digress. Because the best part of this is the billboard's placement below a "Left 4 Dead" ad, making the whole thing devilishly comical. You know, because abortion is murder. Or not.

Who the fuck is pro-abortion?

Those who are not anti-abortion.

Exactly. Always bothers me that pro-choice people (of which I am) don't make a strong enough separation between their beliefs and the contention that they are pro-abortion.

Because saying you are "pro-abortion" sounds like you think ALL pregnancies should be terminated. The only people who use that phrase are anti-choice.

This is just more of the conservative framing of the argument. Just like calling it "Death Tax." Conceptually you can't argue against a death tax because taxing dead people is ridiculous, even though we know that argument itself is ridiculous. 'Pro-life' is the same issue and 'pro-abortion' is it's close cousin. If you aren't pro-life you must be pro-death--binary framing.

That may seem kooky but it works and it's taught in poly-sci courses. So why can't liberals collectively figure this out? If you want to know more about it get the book "Don't Think of an Elephant."

"The Walk for Like West Coast is an annual excursion of crazy people on both sides of the abortion argument who gather in San Francisco once a year to incoherently scream at one another."

Well played Brock, that's exactly what it is.

In context, that sign needs either a "for" in it, or for the "HURTS" to be changed to "HELPS." Stupid anti-abortionists, should have used a less-easily modifiable word.

Actually, giving birth hurts women a hell of a lot more than getting an abortion. I'm just sayin'.

I would like to go on record and say that I am pro-abortion. This world already has too many petulant, weak, greedy children. I am also for euthanasia of anyone who is sick, elderly or just plain stupid and annoying.

That includes people who clip their nails on MUNI and BART, those who cross the street against the light and any moron who sits at a green light and continues text messaging even after the light has turned. Death to you all!

All this protest march does is block the roads to the Wharf. I got caught in that mess trying to park in the Pier 39 lot.

You know what hurt women more than abortion? Illegal abortions, because when it was illegal they were forced to shamefully try and coat-hanger their way out of an undesired child, frequently causing internal bleeding, infection and death.

Man, now I wanna play Left 4 Dead.

Wouldn't it be great if there was an island that all christians could go live on where they wouldn't bother decent folks?

These people make me want to get an abortion just for spite.

I went to that protest a few years ago, to "counter-protest" on the pro-choice side. The idea is just to let the pro-lifers know that everyone doesn't agree with their point of view. Does it help? I have no idea. I don't think I converted anyone on the pro-life side to my way of thinking, but at least they can see that people who disagree with them exist. I can't decide if I should go again this year; sounds like everyone here thinks it's "crazy" to take part in any kind of protest, but there have been a lot of attempts to change the laws in recent elections, so I don't think pro-choice voters should feel complacent.

And unwanted children helps women how?

This stupid march in on my birthday. How dare they bus into my city and march on MY BIRTHDAY.

But more than being pro-choice, I am pro-education. The number of abortions/abandoned children/abused children would be so reduced if we simply backed comprehensive sex-education more. Seriously. Ugh. Makes me so mad.
