Oh oh. Once again, just the other day, the San Francisco Holocaust Memorial fell victim to vandalism. Some sort of red paint -- possibly signifying blood? -- was involved. While the graffiti has since been erased, a "footprint remains where red had been painted onto the memorial wall outside the Palace of the Legion of Honor." The suspect, according to KCBS, is a passionate lad "in his 20s who is six feet, wears a white bandana and carries a black bike messenger bag." Motivated by the recent Israeli assault in the Gaza Strip? Perhaps. But who's to say. If you recall, the memorial was the target of swastika graffiti back in November.

He's upset over RATM breaking up.
Boo! Whatever you think about the Israeli government, the great majority of the victims of the Holocaust are de facto not responsible for the actions of a state that didn't even exist when they were killed. AND! AND! A bunchload of people murdered in the Holocaust weren't even Jews, let alone Zionists: Queers, people with disabilities, Slavs, Roma… Defacing a Holocaust memorial over outrage against the Israeli government's ongoing slow genocide of the Palestinians is not only disrespectful to innocent Jews who could not be guilty of that genocide (as well as their descendants), but also supports the misperception that the Holocaust was exclusively anti-Semitic & bolsters the sympathy argument for the need for a Zionist state. I prescribe two kicks in the teeth & a noogie plus cleaning labour for the vandal.
"Well meaning" vandals? Huh? Someone may want to clue in KCBS.
