The heat works better at work than it does at the house. Plus, there is more light in my tiny windowless cube than the grey, dreary gloaming coming in through the windows.

To justify my necessity and also I don't get paid for not working. I might bail Friday though. That four day weekend was nice. Hell, I might even put in for Inauguration Day. Election Day turned into a two day party.

I'm working because my mom and dad were too lazy to work on days like this when they were younger and I, therefore, do not have a trust fund to, you know, fund me. Thanks, mom and dad! For nothing. I kid. Afterall, it was my decision to major in Econ. What a dumbass! I work because Bill is a bitch. PG&E bill, phone bill, internet bill, and Bill the bookie. Especially Bill the bookie.

After 4 canceled flights last week, I may never travel over the holidays again. I actually hate these forced vacation shutdowns because who the frack wants to travel into two feet of snow followed by rain? Give me time off in September, May, etc...

Because THIS WEEK WILL MAKE OR BREAK THE COMPANY! As I have been told for the past, oh, 45 weeks. Eventually the panic settles into a dull sort of perma-panic, with no vacation time.

Oh, sure, make me feel more guilty. I avoid taking vacation during the year so I can take off these two weeks. Does it help to know that my family is driving me crazy here at home?

I'm at work because I'd rather be here on low-key days, half days, etc. and take vacation in the off season. I prefer to spend my work days with fewer coworkers in the office and my vacations with fewer tourists to share my destination.

Because I work two service industry jobs to make my rent each month. And I had to work four extra shifts last week to deal with all of the people with office jobs and extra time on their hands during the holidays. The holidays are not as fun when you serve the 9-5'ers for a living.
