SF Police Commission to Hold Public Hearing for New Chief

Pretending it will make a difference, the SF Police Commission will give San Franciscans the chance to voice their feelings on what they want from their newest, yet-to-be-announced Chief of Police. San Francisco Police Commission President Theresa Sparks tells CBS 5/KCBS, "My intent is to also have at least a couple of public meetings in the city to give community members the opportunity to tell us what they would like to see in a new chief." Heather Fong, if you recall, announced her retirement a couple of weeks ago. The commission, it seems, didn't know about her plan to turn in her badge until 45 minutes before appearing on Newsom's Cabaret Variety Hour radio show, where she made the news public. Which: rude. Anyway, tonight's meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Oh Jesus ... community input for Police Chief? Forgive my cynicism, but why do I get the notion such thinking led to Heather Fong to start with? When does the political circus end in this town?

I suggest we find a midget, paraplegic, post op, transgendered who identifies as a gay man with lesbian tendencies, preferably some sort of minority who is blind in one eye, deaf in both with bad teeth, body odor and a very low IQ.

Give the public what they want!

Yes, of course. Give the populace a chance to voice their opinion. On Monday night. That's sure to get people in the door.

Besides, it won't work. San Francisco population is too passive-agressive. They would rather snipe from the sidelines with one hand covering their mouth.
