Who's at the Office Today?

Who%27s%20at%20the%20Office%20Today.jpg

"Am I the only one at work today?" read several Facebook updates this morning.

Nope.

So: in lieu of navigating through airport traffic and dodging clinically-obese, out-of-state passengers, are any readers still at the office today? (If so, we feel your pain.) Where are you at? And when does/did happy hour start? Managers, what will you do to make today a bit more merrier for your underlings? Let us know all about your inter-office holiday anguish in the comments.

Yep. I'll be here tomorrow too. If we were open I'd be here Friday. If I don't work I don't get paid and right now I need every penny I can lay my hands on.

I'm fucking working, you bitches! And not "from home" either. I'm at my fucking desk, doing stuff, making calls and being a corporate tool. And I've got to get to Nordstrum later and change some presents ("no, despite the fact that every other sneaker in my closet is a size nine, I'm actually a size eight and a half in Converse, why did you not know this? And I don't like that color either". And my car broke down because the f'tards at the dealership didn't reroute the parking brake properly when they did the fuel line recall. It's fucking joy, joy, joy on this end.

Sheeeit. I'm in the office today and tomorrow! In Novato! With not much to do at that. Well, nothing to do really. No happy hour for this guy, I have to get up at 5:15am to be in Novato at 6:30 for work. Ok ok, maybe a happy hour beer or two at Bean Bag, they're so damn cheap!

And I've still got to do my year-end time sheets (fiction) on that crappy, buggy POS software program that doesn't work at all on Macs.

I'm still here, and I work for the city. Gonna be here tomorrow and possibly Friday..I don't make crap, but it's your tax dollaz at work

I'm at work, as are most people in the suite. However, there's a prevalent feeling of "egh, fuck it" in the air.

No happy hour til tomorrow after work, which will kick off a five-day weekend of balancing old friends with these assholes.

Not only am I sitting at my desk, but they are running a test of the fire alarm system. Nothing like an annoying screeching sound and strobe lights to say happy holidays!

im here. and will be tomorrow, too. taking care of some low hanging fruit on my never ending list of things to do.

will mostly likely take a long lunch, and will def be at HH by 5. i think The Pied Piper Room in The Palace Hotel sounds like a loverly place to get my drink on w/ co-workers.

tomorrow? well, tomorrow depends on exactly how happy i get tonight. weather permitting, i plan on leaving around 2 and taking The Wife (Plug2) ice skating at JHP.

I'm here today, tomorrow AND Friday. I am literally going to be the only person in the office Friday, besides my boss, which is apparently why I have to come in, because I need to do everyone else's work, while they get a four-day weekend.

SFist better update that day, is all I'm saying.

i'm at the office today, but will be off until the 5th starting tomorrow. i'm playing my ipod full of xmas music and people either love it or they hate it.

I'm here. A few others. I would say I'm operating at 30% capacity.

Tomorrow off, but then back on Friday. That might be a 20% capacity day.

BART this morning was like a ghost train.

im at the office, but i came in late and i plan on leaving early in hopes to squash this almost hangover that is starting to set in. im trying to snack it away.

I am at work. It's nice to have some uninterrupted time to do stuff and hear myself think.

I am excited about everyone being gone from SF for a few days too. My favorite time in SF is when all the Burning Man people are gone and the non-locals go back to wherever they came from for the Holidays.

SF is awesome when it's local Bay Area time.

I'm in the office today, tomorrow and I'll be back on Friday. A holiday lunch was just sprung on the office and will be occurring around 2PM today. Nothing like getting drunk with coworkers on our employer's dime. I don't even enjoy drinking but I'll make sure I keep ordering drinks if only to increase the bill since our bonuses were cut this year.

@ aynne I couldnt agree with you more, even though Im a transplant ive been here for 9 years now and still cry everytime i return to the central valley to see the folks.

All my clients are off shopping/stealing,using heroin/weed/chyrs/crack,traveling and spending all your tax dollars. While I sit read all your important comments and add to the thread on the same dime. Either way I plan on taking my intern out for lunch and will make sure it takes as much time as possible. She might even get an ice cream after lunch just so i dont have to drive back to work.

I'm at the office, and will be tomorrow, and will be the day after Xmas as well, and throughout that time I will be desperately scanning craigslist ads and praying for hiring to become unfrozen.

UPDATE: Boss just said I could bail today at 3. So I might head to NB for a beer and stop in The Lusty Lady for 3 or 4 minutes before heading to HH.

Yeah, sfist better not be on vacation, I need updates and to laugh. I have only Thursday off, unpaid. And today, tomorrow and Friday the office we share with is closed, so that means that if I need the bathroom or a sink, water, etc. I have to trek out to Specialties or some other place that probably won't be open either. Its okay though.

At work, doing the most tedious task of the year - filling in my self-appraisal.

here today, tomorrow, and Friday but I'm the only one in the office so I don't have to look presentable or interact with anyone...which is good considering the hangover I have this morning

I'm working today and tomorrow. It definitely beats trying to travel right now. I'm imagining hour-long airport security lines full of screaming toddlers, definitely makes sitting at work seem more appealing.

At the office. Me and 2 other guys. Sounds like the start of a porno. Just kidding! I always work on holidays.

working today, working tomorrow, and working on friday. no work = no pay. i always use up my PTO as i accrue it. =\.

Yep, I'm at the office and will be tomorrow too, although they're letting us leave a few hours early. Looks like most of us are in the same boat.

in the office all week.

yep.

even that one holy day or something that everyone seems to be looking forward to.

IS NOTHING SACRED ANYMORE?!

(thus, indeed, SFist must update, or i'ma carve out my eyes with a melon baller)

Who would want to travel this time of year? I'm at work today and then tomorrow until noon, plus 2 1/2 days next week. They gave us both Fridays off.

How very nice of them.

@ Ciaran -

"Once again, defying all odds, I greatly exceeded all expectations this year, turning in a performance even more stunning and amazing than last year's, if that's even possible."

There you go. Done.

Does sitting in a doctor's office for the past effing hour count? I've been answering work emails even though technically I'm on vaca tion...

At the office listening to the history of Howard Stern!!

At the office today and tomorrow, closed Thursday and Friday. I like it when it's quiet though.

I still have to be a cog tomorrow. :-/

At the Weekly today and tomorrow...but sort of have Thurs and Fri off. Whew.

@Angrybat

Close. I ticked all the 5 out of 5 boxes and wrote "I rock" across the bottom.

Drinks are on me when I get my whopping raise!

Good few days to clean up the office a bit - delete or file a few thousand emails out of the work email inbox.

HH starts promptly at 12:01pm tomorrow!

My girlfriend only gets Christmas itself off. She has to work every other day. I think they also only give her New Year's Day off. Really a dick move.

My daughter was at work today, but is off tomorrow, and I think Friday too. Don't hate me because I'm retired! I spent 47 frickin' years working and I'm going to enjoy the non-working years very much. I *will* be checking in at SFist, so rock on, Brock!

Here at Arizona state banking department. Wishing I were there!

@Belgand:

This is my schedule as well. I've never been anywhere as stingy with the time off as this place.

And several people have emailed to assure the higher ups they will be "working from home on 12/25." Because nothing says Merry Christmas like some good, old-fashioned ass kissing.
