SFist Tonight

MUSIC: If you love when "accordion trills join synthesized, repeating vocals and the boom-boom of a bass kick," and you should, you'll love Tijuana -based Nortec Collective, who are most spectacular. They're muy caliente. They're at once organic yet completely synthesized. They're the tamale-flavored Pizza Rolls of music, and we mean that in the best way possible. Check them out tonight over on Divisadero if you can.

9 p.m. // The Independent (628 Divisadero) // $18-$20

FILM: Puppetry and crit-rock collide in glorious form tonight during a Muppets and Sonic Youth double bill. "Sonic Muppets: 'Muppets Music Moments' and Sonic Youth: Sleeping Nights Awake," a 70-minute montage of "musical moments from various Muppet ventures against a new Sonic Youth documentary made by Nevada high schoolers," will have all you GenXers creaming in your Depend undergarments.

7 p.m. // Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Screening Room (701 Mission) // $8-$10
