Bettie Page Dies

Zaftig girl icon Bettie Page died last night at a Los Angeles hospital. She was 85. Page -- whose brunette hair, sharply cut bangs and bondage photos continues to capture the imagination of both males and females -- died after suffering a heart attack nine days ago. Popular in the '50s, Page eschewed her life as an underground celebrity by becoming a born-again Christian and working full-time for evangelist Billy Graham's ministry. Only later in life did she reluctantly accept her icon status. Page's life turned into the biopic The Notorious Bettie Page, which, thankfully, resurrected the career of Gretchen Mol.

Zaftig? Where do you get that?

Zaftig? Page was many things, but zaftig? I think you need to reconsider use of that word. Unless, of course, you're like comparing her to like the heroin chic skeletor with a pierced lip hipster standard of conventional female beauty that applies in your world, today, now.

page was curvy, or whatever, so women, if i can generalize, who tend not to have eating disorders and/or cocaine problems seem to enjoy her. thus: zaftig.

page was curvy, or whatever,

Brock, they were lying to you, girls do not have cooties!

R.I.P., Betti. Heaven just got a little hotter.

which, thankfully, resurrected the career of Gretchen Mol.

I never know when you're being sarcastic, Brock- but I'll second that. She's great in the American version of Life On Mars.

The show itself? Not great- but a fun guilty pleasure for the soundtrack alone (take a drink every time Harvey Keitel punches someone).

"Zaftig"? Um, no. She was many things but zaftig was def not among them.

Oh I see, you're saying the "ladies who lunch" love her. Not that she was zaftig herself. That was some fancy footwork there, Brock. Kudos.
