Steve Young: Still Elusive!

Found by American Football Spectacular's vigilant Kansas City correspondent Kyle Vorak, this mesmerizing image is from last night's TB@CAR ESPN coverage.

People of Charlotte, we say to you: do not be unkind to Steve Young.

As you can see, he is still elusive after years of retirement (and those semi-adorable truck ads that your Mom appreciates).

Do not be unkind to him. He is a nice-enough fellow.

And b'sides, you couldn't hit him in any case.

There's nothing quite like the all american past-time of Hit the Homo.

@travin

[squinting quizzically at comment]

Hokay.

I'm sure many of us can think of other things we'd like seen tossed at Steve Young's face.

This thread got sexy in a hurry.

He took that like a pro, appears to have not missed a beat and kept on with his jibber jabber.

Plaudits.

Meh.

There were rumors about Garcia, there were rumors about Young, there were rumors about Omar ...

(Actually, for the record, I think Omar is gay ...)

Mesmerizing is right. I can't stop watching.

I saw Jeff Garcia out once with a chick who was a fucking off-the-charts babe. He could be gay, I guess, but it sure didn't look like it.

Hey, if we're going to the out-the-public-figure game, what about Da Mayor? Just saying.

There are worse afflictions for blog posts. In fact, I kinda appreciate it.

[Audibly resisting "took-that-like-a-pro" puns]

No, you're totally right -- and, in fact it's similar to his playing style -- it looks like he shuts out the distraction and focuses on the task at hand.

He's become a pretty alright broadcaster, I think.

One guy who's having a spectacular second act as a commentator is Trent Dilfer(!!!). His calm contributions on ESPN and the NFL Network have been both consistently insightful and directly delivered. Who knew?

@generic

Meh.

1.) Garcia consistently dated super-hot model-types when he was a 49er. I'm of-the-mind that if he were gay/bi/whatever, he'd be out of the closet with the same level of vim he displays on the field. And uhhh... [googles] looks like he's married to the 2004 Playmate Of The Year. And they have a kid, with another on the way. So, Jeff Garcia? Not gay.

2.) Young was never lucky in love while he was still in the NFL, and he'd talk outright about how that bothered him. He always wanted to find the right woman and settle down and have a family. Eventually, after his playing days were done, he did. Steve Young? Not gay.

3.) Omar is married too and has a kid. People think he's gay because he sings, sculpts, dances, does fashion, paints, and other stuff. Well, he's not gay; so I think he's merely secure and just does whateverthehell he wants to. Omar is Omar, and adorably so. He was one of precious few bright spots on the Giants in these lean sad times. A shame that he's not coming back this season. Omar Vizquel? Not gay.

These three guys are all positive role models, and if any of them were gay, I reckon that'd be nothing but positive and all to the good. But they're not. And that's well and good too.

And my number-one nominee for self-hating totally-negative closet case? Terrell Owens.

Same here.

Also, your icon is awesomely menacing.

@Generic, t'aint rumors, McGee. It just ain't that kinda party.

Depending on the timing, it might've been his wife (former 2004 Playmate Of The Year). But that's apparently the type that he liked to date before he met her, so it's hard to tell.

@HHumbert

Nope, he's not.

@Christopher Rogers: Willie or the Gavinator?

Could have sworn that I heard noises that Willie had the best looking beards.

Well, you said Da Mayor, so thought you meant Willie.

Naw, I think it's been pretty well documented that he's had various actual girlfriends.

Of course, well, I'm not discounting your story; do you know otherwise? Sources? Cites?

The day I debate the heterosexuality of Willie Brown is the day I shut off the internet machine and walk out into the sunlight, blinking, determined never to waste another second on futility.
