Some of you could really benefit from the pharma revolution and take some happy pills. If someone wants to take the day off and help people out as a way of -coping- with the fact 53% of their fellow citizens STABBED THEM IN THE BACK -why do you pissy people care? I guess it's just who you are. I guess I just need to accept that about you. With that said, I love you pissy people. Tomorrow I will go out and be my gay self... perhaps I will even be assigned to your case :-P

I'm taking the day off, but as a vacation day (I'm not going to screw my company) so I can take a now-unemployed friend to the Academy of Sciences. Does that count as charity work?

I plan to go to work. I think this idea is lame and was started by a columnist for LATimes who introduced the idea half serious and half joking. Unfortunately, the idea got picked up by JOIN THE IMPACT, and so on. My employer is very supportive of LGBT people, and I do not believe in making my employer pay for a sick day when I'm not sick.

I guess what confuses me is what are we who are not gay supposed to do? My plan is to go to work- but not be very productive. I'll email friends, read celebrity gossip on the internet and lurk here. Granted, I do this every day- but now I feel good about it.

Well intended, but ultimately absurd idea. There aren't enough gays around to prove the point and the point would be lost in those areas where gays are concentrated (i.e., cities like SF) enough for their absence to be noted as the folks in these places prolly all voted against Prop 8 anyway. Even in the hinterlands, who is going to notice if the local trailer lesbian doesn't show up for her shift at the dog pound? Silly.

Volunteering is productive. As far as sick-outs go (a popular protest technique) the social component of this one is very redeeming. in my office teh geyhz are going to volunteer at LGBT orgs.
