If only San Francisco had some kind of organization that protected and served the citizens, ensuring public safety while preventing crime and violence. A sort of Policing-Based Force, if you will.

Scary. I am an active Glide member, and I'm there at least twice per week. I heard about the webcam this week. I'm sorry Adam is receiving threats, although I'm not surprised. I was watching Adam's Block last night, while writing on my blog about it. While I had it on, Adam received a crank call from a blocked number. He then instant messaged something about a policy wherein he removes the live broadcast for eight hours (and replaces it with old footage) every time he receives a call from a blocked number. I've had moments of feeling disturbed about the invasion of the neighborhood locals' privacy, but I keep reminding myself that it's a public corner. So I always come back to being fine with it. It's definitely interesting to watch.

Thanks for writing about this. I hope it raises awareness that this is my life and threats aren't to be taken lightly. I think my next fundraiser should be for a lawyer so I can fight any thing that comes my way.

While the camera is certainly entertaining, who are the losers who are constantly making real time comments on everything that passes? You really have nothing better to do?

Junkies aren't scary. They can barely stand up. Teenaged males are scary which puts the actual scariest block somewhere in the HP, or near the Sunnydale projects, or around Bryant street in the mission. Unless there need to be white middle class people nearby. Then sure the TL is like Beirut.

I saw the local news broadcast about adamsblock this week (if you were on his site he had the camera pointed to his TV) and was wondering when this was going to happen. The next fundraiser will be for rent money so that Adam can move to safer waters and keep the studio for the camera and internet.

The letter was obviously written by an old man. I mean who still uses paper to send a death threat? You should use the public library or a starbucks for stuff like that.

Back in the Paleozoic era (about 1996), I got fed up with the lack of police response to issues along my little stretch of Albion between 15th & 16th. I pointed a webcam out my living room window to the little hidey hole where the junkies liked to hang out and streamed it live (okay, used a script that uploaded a new static image every 60 seconds). Took about a month before I started receiving regular death threats taped to the front door and email. The email threats came from a city government IP address. I have my theories.

It's Taylor & Ellis. Glide is across from his building and in the cam view - I remember being able to hear a bit of the Sunday services. The Hilton is on another side of the street. I lived in the building from when I first moved to SF until I found another studio for significantly less in lower Nob Hill.

Ha!..that's nothing. I got my first bomb threat the first week I ran the exact same type of cam 3 blocks away on 6th Street 10 years ago
