moon%20viewing.jpg

SF Citizen's Jim Herd snapped this amazing shot of last night's Jupiter, Venus, and moon sighting from Golden Gate Park. This planets were visible from all around the world last night. Did you catch it? Hope so. Because it won't be happening again until 2052.

Check out more shots of the spectacular scene.

Link's not working.

Also, yep, I saw this driving down Hwy 1 on Sunday evening. Pretty amazingly lovely...

It was also a great sight a few nights ago because Venus was directly above Jupiter.

Awesome photo!

They said it was going to be an unhappy face, but does that look unhappy to you?!? I'd say that looks pretty fucking happy!!! The liars! Liar Liar McLiarson Pants on Fires! Oooh!!! *shakes and raises fist*

/needs more coffee

I almost grabbed my camera and took a similar photo but got stuck staring out the window for 20 minutes and forgot to snap the pic. Doh!

Oh that's what that crap was in the sky. Fucking stars. They should get a life and quit hanging around doing nothing like that.

Someone was trying to tell me that you would be able to see Jupiter and Venus centered between the points of the crescent moon. I was pretty sure it wasn't possible for Jupiter and Venus to end up in front of the moon.

withak, you can now be certain. Only objects that can enter the area between the moon and earth can be seen across the face (lighted or darkened) of the moon: meteors, the space shuttle and associated debris, and ET. Thankfully, no planet can do this.
