Last night's the Decemberists show proved to be the typical success these Portland-based cats see when they play to the Bay Area. For those of you who missed it, Adam Findley snapped these shots from last night's show.

Yay! This was a great show, as always. In my middle-class complacency, I had almost forgotten how exciting our upcoming President-elect is, until Colin led us in a raucous. "Yes we can: Yes we did!" exchange.
The floor was packed and still. I felt like a man among mannequins.
@ihartsf: people may scoff at my musical selection, but when I went to see Pendulum, there was not a still booty in the house.
That said, I also enjoyed the Decemberists show. It was just good in a "there might as well be seats" kind of way. Colin and friends put on a good show (and I heard a couple other folks express the same sentiment as kitschycatch).
I saw the D'bists when they played at the Warfield 2 years ago and thought the show left a lot to be desired. While I absolutely LOVE the music, I thought their live show was downright weak: inside jokes, asinine banter, long breaks between songs and general messing around on stage when they should have been rocking.
Let's have a little professionalism Meloy, shall we?
Such an annoying band.
@EllyMental: He kept the banter down, and even mentioned professionalism at one point. Apparently he took your lengthy and tear-stained letter to heart. (But his tears or yours? We shall never know.)
Bands like these kooks should keep their politics to themselves ...
Inside jokes and banter are the reason I go to see shows. If I just wanted to hear the songs I could put on the album. The Decemberists have a lot more personality and I hope they haven't toned that down due to voices like EllyMental's. They're going to sell out the show either way.
Saw them a year or so ago at the Warfield, but then they canceled that show at the Fillmore last year and I still got stuck for a non-refunded service fee even though I bought at the box office because I'd used a credit card. A shame that I spaced and missed this one though.
