onze: Your interpretation is one I've heard a lot from Torah scholars. It is an interesting one, because hospitality to and protection of travelers/foreigners seemed to be an underlying concern in that passage and in Middle Eastern culture altogether. But alas, I don't think it really matters how you interpret the the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you voted for Prop 8 based on the bible, you are a politically uninformed individual.

Even if Prince doesn't associate gayness with Sodom and Gomorrah, others do. But here is another view, from: Follow a Bible quote: "Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy." along with this commentary: "Perhaps Gomorrah was destroyed because of something related to sexual sin (though it is not expressly stated), but what is clearly stated in Scripture is that God judged Sodom because of prideful, overfed people who didn't help the poor and needy. "Perhaps we should be as worried about what goes on at our neighborhood buffet restaurant as we are about Gay Pride! Just a thought."

A.) Old news. Get with IT, Brock. B.) Considering that Prince beating up girls was a constant theme of the hideous "Purple Rain", I'm somehow not surprised by his outdated viewpoints on sexuality. That movie is amazing in both its misogyny and its immature attitudes towards sex in general.
