The smurf who made a name for himself wearing ass-less yellow pants; penning such anthems as Cream, Sexy Motherfucker, Darling Nikki; and having an ouvre based on where he shoots his DNA loads, Prince, it seems, isn't down with the ungodly homosexual lifestyle.
When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, "God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.' "
Controversy, indeed.

For some reason God came to earth and told the people to buy Prince records.
[yeah i know. it's perez hilton, but... he's got the scoop.]

A.) Old news. Get with IT, Brock.
B.) Considering that Prince beating up girls was a constant theme of the hideous "Purple Rain", I'm somehow not surprised by his outdated viewpoints on sexuality. That movie is amazing in both its misogyny and its immature attitudes towards sex in general.
Actually his "people" later released a statement claiming he had been misquoted.
Even if Prince doesn't associate gayness with Sodom and Gomorrah, others do. But here is another view, from: Follow
a Bible quote:
"Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy."
along with this commentary:
"Perhaps Gomorrah was destroyed because of something related to sexual sin (though it is not expressly stated), but what is clearly stated in Scripture is that God judged Sodom because of prideful, overfed people who didn't help the poor and needy.
"Perhaps we should be as worried about what goes on at our neighborhood buffet restaurant as we are about Gay Pride! Just a thought."
All this time I thought he just pulled the intro of "Let's Go Crazy" out of his ass.
onze: Your interpretation is one I've heard a lot from Torah scholars. It is an interesting one, because hospitality to and protection of travelers/foreigners seemed to be an underlying concern in that passage and in Middle Eastern culture altogether. But alas, I don't think it really matters how you interpret the the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you voted for Prop 8 based on the bible, you are a politically uninformed individual.
Maybe I'm just a NYer lemming, but somehow I trust their reporting more than a guy who taps his bible for emphasis when speaking.
largo01: fallacy. i'm totally with you, but i don't believe that being politically informed is a consideration for those who voted for prop 8 based on the bible. politics are not so much a concern for those folks...
so prince is straight?
sort of???
Angry Young Man you seemed to have completely missed the point of Purple Rain. Prince was trying to not turn into his father, his father that made the doves cry when he beat his mom, so.... oh who cares?
