Hillary Clinton Still Considering Secretary of State Gig

2008_11_hilclinob.jpgWhile a British newspaper may have jumped the gun in reporting that Hillary Clinton would be President-elect Obama's Secretary of State, it certainly seems like it'll happen at some point. Politico reports that "Negotiations between the Clintons and President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team are rapidly moving toward a formal offer of secretary of state" by next week.

More intriguingly, former President Bill Clinton has entered the talks: According to a "close friend," apparently Bubba "is open to giving up foreign sources of income if his wife becomes secretary of state." The friend said, "There’ll be things that he did in the past that he won’t do now," which could be interpreted so many ways. When HRC was running for president, she released her and Bill's tax returns, which showed over $109 million in income between 2000 and 2007.

The Washington Post adds that Bill Clinton will make "public all donors to his foundation and clearing all of his future speeches and charitable activities with Obama administration officials." Still, WaPo source says the couple is debating the offer, "She's very much so undecided. It's a life-changing decision, a different environment, a different everything."
