Starting to feel like a broken record because I put this anywhere a shiba is featured in the news because they are SO appealing! So please forgive if you've read this before.

Yes, they're VERY cute, but they are little teddy bears with an attitude when they grow up. Should you suddenly have the urge to add a shiba inu to your life, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check out the breed. My site www.shibaweb.com has a lot of information for people interested in the breed, and of course, the National Shiba Club of America site is www.shibas.org

Do not make an uninformed decision, Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibarescue.org) is full of shibas that no longer have their happy homes because the owners did not do their homework (or they were being outplaced from puppy mills).

If you're still absolutely convinced that the shiba inu is for you.

#1 rule -- DO NOT buy one at a pet store, these are the products of puppy mills and back yard breeders, NO reputable breeder will sell their puppies through a broker or pet store. For more information see my site.

Please check out the breeder's listing at the NSCA site, or check out your local rescue.

Shibas are great dogs in the right hands, but they're definitely not for everyone!
