Prop. 8 Demonstration March, 11/15, San Francisco

After Saturday's Nationwide Prop 8. protest at City Hall, an after-march sprouted through the streets of San Francisco, going from Civic Center to Octavia and the Castro and then back up Market to Union Square, over to Chinatown, North Beach, and then back to Civic Center.

SFist's Matt Baume -- who can be heard on the radio talking about Prop 8 tonight at around 7:30 p.m. on KALW, 91.7 -- has an excellent review of the demonstration and march. Above are some choice shots of the scene from local photog Darwin Bell.

A fuckin' Lenny Kravitz lyric? Are you shitting me? Is that the best you can do? What audience is going to be swayed by that? [In a Seth Meyers voice] Really?

Wake me when people get serious about this. Half of me thinks 80% of this is more of a reaction to the Castroween brouhaha than anything having to do with gay marriage.

P.S. The whole "H8" thing is a non-starter, just in case you didn't notice. In fact, "8" itself is history, and the more you invoke "8" the less you are dealing with the present (and future).

It's just not a protest without naked people.

I disagree about the usefulness of "8"

In California we traditionally use the proposition number to refer to the law after it has been passed (less often after it has been defeated, but still not uncommon)

Look at Prop 13, Prop 22 and Prop 187 as examples.
