Towleroad is reporting that the numbers were more like 7 - 10,000 thousands rather than hundreds like the AP reported.
What's up with these major news sources and their completely inaccurate reporting of the number of people protesting???

"Shouldn't New Yorkers be celebrating what happened in Connecticut today rather than protesting something in a state we have nothing to do with? Not only that, but NY itself will likely legalize gay marriage soon."

Typical east coast disdain for the west coast.

My answer to this person would be that, absolutely, New Yorkers should be concerned with what has happened here in California because the same thing could happen to them when New York State starts allowing same sex marriages. A precedent was set here on Nov. 4th that a slim majority vote can take away the rights of a minority.
Yes, ALL of us should be celebrating what is now happening in Connecticut just like how we celebrated when Massachusetts legalized same sex marriages and when we celebrated here in California when the marriage ban was overturned in June 2008. Now we ALL need to work hard to make sure that what happened here in California doesn't happen again in Connecticut and Massachusetts. We should also be working hard to help states like Florida and Arizona with their fight for marriage equality so that they will have a reason to celebrate as well.
