Oakland Tribune Calls for the Firing of School Police Chief

Remember when Oakland School District Police Chief Art "No, you're a pain in the ass" Michel detained Oakland Tribune photographer Jane Tyska during Halloween's illegal immigration protests? Well, it turns out the Tribune is now calling for the police chief's firing. (You can see just why, right here.) Art claims the photog was inciting a riot after she accidentally tapped his cop car with her elbow -- which, really, wasn't the case -- detaining Tyska and confiscating her camera and videotape. He should be fired. HE is the pain in the ass.

Fire him, where do I sign? Seems that working with kids all day makes you treat everyone like they're a kid. My teacher friends act like this on camping trips.

That's some definition of "inciting."

He must go! Talk about abuse of power, unnecessary roughness, profanity, no professionalism whatsoever, start a petition, I will sign. Just tell me where. We must make the police much more accountable for their actions. Godspeed to us all, with a person like that running around with a gun and a badge. i shudder to think what would have happened if she didn't have that camera. Oakland needs to flush the toilet on their police department and start over, looks like we have a thug/hoodlum in control.
