Employees at Wired, Six Apart Cut Loose

vodka-rocks.jpg

Wow. Current TV wasn't the only one hit today. Other SoMa/Mission Bay world-wide-web dabblers also felt the economic pinch. "A quarter of the 50-something employees in Wired.com's San Francisco newsroom" are out of a job today over at Wired. Also, Six-Apart laid off 16-plus employees. Sorry, guys. But we do strongly suggest Nova (555 Second), Zeke's (600 Third), and 21 Amendment (563 2nd Street) -- recommended in that order -- for any and all drunken commiserating.

thats it, im not spending anymore money...not a dime. This is getting out of hand. None of these folks had any idea that today was there last day at there job. Thats scary.

I'm sure this isn't the last of it. All those social networking sites with no revenue are going to be shedding people when fresh investment dries up...

Yep, I'm one of the 16. They actually have OK revenue, but chickened out of some other fairly critical revenue sources.

Oh man. That is terrible news, KWillets. Seriously. Hope you're dong OK all things considered.

I hope things look brighter real soon. I'm sure they will.

Sorry, KWillets. Hope it's not my fault for deleting my LiveJournal back in the day.

As for the Wired folks, I'm still a subscriber. So you can't blame me. Instead you should blame yourselves for calling for the death of print media for over a decade. Yeah, sorry what happened with HotWired.

Uh, that's a horrible order for bar hopping. Walking across South Park drunk after getting the axe? No, thank you.

Well, we're not out on the street yet, and it's not 2001. And, I actually have some ideas that I want to look at if 6A isn't doing them.

Thanks for the good wishes.
