While watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta over the weekend -- trust Cooper and us when we say that NeNe is the star of 2008 -- a friend tossed up a copy of Holy Headshot! A Celebration Of America's Undiscovered Talent.
Five minutes later we nearly lost control of our bladder functions. The book is that funny.
No, really, it is. Check out a smattering of their headshots, here.
Billed as a massive collection of the oddest, funniest headshots and resumes from performers from around the country, it's much more than that. The book is an ode to the American dream: The pipedream of stardom and the reality of failure. The numerous headshots are at once hysterical and pitiful, beautiful and tragic.
Authored by comedian Patrick Borelli and photog Douglas Gorenstein, this tome, perfect for any self-consciously astute bookshelf or basket next to the toilet, Holy Headshot! almost makes us respect thespians and how hard they work for their craft. Almost.
Oh, and the San Francisco release party happens this Friday at the Purple Onion, featuring San Francisco actors from the book, strutting their stuff on stage. And with their NYC and Philadelphia book release shows being smashing successes of entertainment and hobnobbing, we can't recommend this party enough.

how awesome!
I worked on a friend's indie film 4 years ago and within hours after posting the casting call on all the sites that cater to agents and so on, he was getting flooded with headshots and resumes.
he'd literally wake up in the morning and on his doorstep there were like, a zillion packages waiting to be opened and more would come all day. We then had to go through them and it took days to just sort them, much less really look at 'em.
