What was your wait time?

Well, since it's expected to be a record turnout today at the polls, and we've already reported on the wait at certain stations thus far, we have to ask: How long did you wait in line to vote? (We're already getting word of a few polling stations running out of ballots. One reader writes to us, saying "1045 capp st polling station in the Mission is out of ballots at 9 a..m.")

But don't let the long lines discourage you, folks. Compared to yesterday, it's a gorgeous day outside today.

Voting's for suckers. If you don't vote, you don't have to wait at all!

I voted at Oak and Steiner at 7:20 and the wait was about 20 minutes. The poll workers, who appeared to be high school or young college kids, were very efficient and the line moved quickly.

genius, turtle_276. they should only have hot people working the polls. turnouts would be record-breaking everywhere.

Sheesh. Don't you people know how to vote by mail?

Permanent absentee! Except they don't give me that nice "I voted" sticker.

Yes, permanent vote by mail voting is the way to go ... here's the english version of the application ... http://www.sfgov.org/site/uploadedfiles/elections/VoterServices/Perm_AV_App_EN.pdf

When you have 22 local measures and another 12 state measures to consider, you need to be able to relax and sip a nice, cold drink while voting. :)

I call voter disenfranchisement at the elementary school/polling place on 22nd and York - the machines are up half a flight of stairs on a stage. How are the olds and the disableds supposed to get up there? Also there are 6-year-olds dancing to mariachi music which is adorable/distracting.

my wait time's been 8 years

just got back, didn't have to wait at all; done in less than 10 minutes!

Still waiting here. My polling place at St Luke's on Valencia & Cesar Chavez realized at 7:30 they were low on ballots, and requested more. By 10 am, they had run out of ballots and had no idea when more were coming.

Anyone know where to officially report this kind of thing?

I just filled out my absentee and dropped it off at my polling place. No wait and you get a sticker!

Mailed in my absentee two weeks ago. No lines, no leaving the house. :D

How the f*ck can they run out of ballots? It's not like they don't know exactly how many people are registered at each precinct.

oak and steiner at 9am...5 minutes tops...

Call 1-800-OUR VOTE to report problems like that is what I have heard to do.

They ran out at my polling place at around 10:00, about three voters after me.

I live in a state where I could vote early, and I have to say, this is the best idea ever. Yet even a week early, there were lines of two hours.

Expecting millions of people to take off / be able to take the day off seems insane in today's world. If we are all supposed to do our civic duty and our patriotic responsibility, Tuesday should at least be a national holiday, if more days aren't given.

Look up why the first Tuesday in November is election day and it's based on a lifestyle we had hundreds of years ago - which, coincidentally is like a certain candidate's campaign.

Can I vote "0" minutes? Because our polling place on McAllister had three voters in it this morning.

Zero wait time for me as well. I went during my lunch break. My polling place is at the Samoan church on 26th Street in SF.

Yep, mine was fairly short on 18th Ave in the Richmond - there was a line to feed the ballots into the machine when I got there though, which is unheard of. Definitely less than 5 minutes for me.

Voting took longer than the actual wait. I probably waited about a minute to get my ballot, and then when I was done I got to pet a pretty dog. Ha!

My polling place was for all the southside coopers and Greek people, so I thought there would be more people but I guess I went during a popular class time.

my wait was one minute over on brannan/third.. tops.
