@ David Latterman & pantsgolem I've often judged the actions of the Board of Supervisors on the Love-Hate Fear continuum. Guess where most of them fall? Probably closest to "no duh"...? I'm not kidding anyone -- SF politics is straight-up Fear and lowest common denominator-ing. Embarassing. But then, that's everywhere. But SF isn't everywhere.

Also if you would like to see what a McCain/Palin administration would be like be sure to watch Richard Kelley's most recent movie Southland Tales. Its a little cheesy (the Rock) but parts of it are good.

@ David Latterman Also, apparently a sequel is being filmed now, about Samantha Darko, but Kelley isn't involved. This displeases me. I can't see anything positive coming out of this sequel at all in any way, shape, or form. [sigh]

@ David Latterman Did you know the Start Search dance scene wasn't filmed to Notorious? They did it to a T4F or INXS song (damn I forget which one), but couldn't get the rights. It so happened Notorious fit the beat exactly. They lucked out. I did not know that. That's nifty.

This movie doesn't seem like a puzzle to me. Sometimes a disjointed mess is just a disjointed mess. The "puzzle" is just a convenient excuse for a poorly made movie.

@ Leanne Luckily, Drew Barrymore's wooden performance ("cellar door") didn't ruin Donnie Darko too much, but geez, she sucked. Ayep, definitely. Well, she was there to produce, not act -- bless her heart. At least she gets credit for that in my book.

Oh. My. God. Sparkle Motion for Halloween is GENIUS! I wish I had thought of that! Seriously, anyone who hasn't seen this movie needs to. Everything about it is amazing. Even aficionados of Jake G backlash have to admit that this movie is fantastic.

Donnie Darko has been my latest fave for quite some time, which has been recently rivaled by Son of Rambow (also set in the '80s with a great soundtrack but not as great as DD's). Luckily, Drew Barrymore's wooden performance ("cellar door") didn't ruin Donnie Darko too much, but geez, she sucked. Thanks for all the links, DL! Will check them out.

In my top five of all time. The Director's cut is a bit clearer, though. After you read all this, see it again. Makes a lot more sense. What, I can obsess over things other than politics...
