It’s not to say that Anson did not have a role to play in this episode of history, but his role had more to do with following the rules laid down by the owners & American culture as a whole, then any extreme flaws in his character. With a little fact checking ... Cap Anson could be found later in life, after retirement, playing semipro ball with black players on a regular basis, including the founder of the Negro Leagues, Rube Foster.</p>
