That was not an offhand comment. She was pressed, three times, by Couric to name *any* magazine or publication that she read to keep up on foreign affairs. She couldn't think of one. She was pushed into a corner and failed to come up with a response. Then she tried to turn the question around on Couric as though the CBS anchor had insinuated that because she lives in Alaska she can't be up on foreign affairs. This woman is a joke of the highest order.

What's vapid is a thread about a bland offhand comment. Biden was quoted saying that when the market crashed in '29, FDR went on TV right away and reassured the country. He got a little grief for it (Hoover was president and there was no TV outside of laboratories), then it was forgotten. But "All of them!" is supposed to live forever? Lame. SFist can do better.

one could endorse McCain and still see Sarah Palin as dangerously unqualified. Judging by the poll numbers, many millions of Americans are doing just that. but probably the entire ist network including Anchoragist endorses the candidate that can speak the language.
