SFist: Tanker Explosion Shuts Down I-880 Through Thursday, Detours Required

I used to drive 880 every day to get to work. Once I had a jackknifed truck push an AC Transit bus across 5 lanes of traffic several hundred yards in front of me. That freeway is scary. I am happy to live in SF now and be able to safely bike everywhere. no joke.

I thought driving the 710 freeway in LA was scary-- no way. 880 South on a Friday afternoon gave me and both parents a scare to last us a lifetime. I'm really not surprised a tanker crashed AGAIN. Freeways in SF cannot handle big rigs (even if they were designed to handle them).
