Photo: Name that Bird

No longer happy terrorizing Alex Clemens' Barbary Coast Consulting, unruly San Francisco creatures of the sky are now popping up in other downtown locales. This not-so-little fella turned up at Hyatt Embarcadero. Whoa, is right.

All together now, "I married me a wife in the month of June, Risselty-rosselty now, now, now..."

I say that we name it Steve.

i dont have a name fer it --- but it looks like a peregrine falcon, right?

Naming won't matter much -- this is clearly a different individual than the one a week ago. Same species (red-tailed hawk), different individual. Red-tails can be seen soaring over the city every day, try looking up. October is a major month for raptors migrating over the San Francisco. Just go up to Hawk Hill some morning and watch the hawks fly past and over to the city.

Re kapshure: this is most definitely a red-tailed hawk, not a peregrine falcon.

So you're saying that October is not exactly the best month to be a kitten.

oh cool.. i didn't know. can't really see its breast/underbelly, so i was just going by the outer feather colors/patterns and matching on google-images.

anyways.. thanks for clearing it up.

I saw that guy chilling outside the Moscone center on Sunday afternoon. I'm sure now that he's had a taste of the sweet sweet downtown rats and pigeons he'll probably move in for good.

that just shows your san francisco values - if you were from the real america, you would know that is a bald eagle
