It's Open Studios time and the city is gloriously (extra-)rife with art. Here's a show happening at the RayKo Photo Center:
2008 Open Studios Show

Mary Celojko, Jeanne Hauser, Audrey Jones, Sam Manera, Luis Mendoza, Mia Nakano, Kira Shemano, Barry Umstead, Andrew Zeller

Exhibition: Satuday, October 18 - Sunday, November 2, 2008

Meet the Artists: Saturday & Sunday, October 25th & 26th, 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM (the official open studios weekend)

Come see this landmark exhibition featuring the work of 9 contemporary Californian artists working in a variety of photographic media from traditional silver prints to digital prints to chromogenic prints. The photographers come from diverse backgrounds and pursue a wide range of subject matter, but they are united in their passion for their techniques and the fact that they make all their work at RayKo Photo Center's comprehensive facilities. These are some of the most exquisite photographs ever made.

You hear that? Some of the most exquisite photographs ever made. That is some appreciable hyperbole right there.

The show opens this wknd, and next wknd you can meet the folks who captured some of the most exquisite photographs ever made. Looks pretty cool.

Photo via Audrey Jones. And let me be clear that we are pro-hyperbole.

She's packin a bowl there, right?

If by "packin'" you mean "playing proctologist for" and by "bowl" you mean a Paraguayan SuperMoth caterpillar, then I'm right there with you.

I always figured that this picture was a vicious scene of a tiger finger-puppet subduing a zebra finger-puppet for its meal. Or maybe for kisses. Either way.

Nice baloney cans on that bird.
