Racist Republican Showdown: Sacto vs. SoCal

pulled%20obama%20images%20from%20gop%20sources.jpg

Today's groups helping team McCain-Palin not get to the White House? Why, ill-advised members of the Republican party, of course.

First, we have the Sacramento County Republican Party, who recently had to remove certain images from their site, like the one at left, because they were all offensive and stuff.

And in the other corner, the Chaffey Community Republican Women Federated of San Bernardino County, whose newsletter featured a cartoon depicting Obama as a food stamping-using, Kool-Aid sipping, watermelon-tasting kind of guy. (An aside: Yes, yes, not all Republicans are bigots. We know this. We hope you do too.)

Vile.

So, which pulled image deserves the heft of your tsk tsk-ing? We're going to go with the valley trash.

Sacramento GOP site has this on it:

"LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR JUNE PRIMARY ELECTION IS MAY 22, 2006."

Way to keep up to date. Also, there's some fine art.

I'm black, and on a hot day like this, I for one could go for ribs and kool aid!

user-pic

When you see the full image, you'll notice they kindly put an image of a bucket of KFC on there as well, in case a mess of ribs isn't your thing.

Mmmm, fried chicken and ribs. I never got this stereotype. It's your basic southern diet, regardless of skin color.

And that picture is making me hungry.

And this would be Ms. Fedele's contact information:

Diane Fedele (President)

Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated P.O. Box 974 Upland, CA 91785

diane1354@mindspring.com

Phone: (909) 981-0493 Fax: (909) 982-6880

And this is what Diane Fedele had to say about it (from sfgate): she apologized "if it offended anyone."

She meant it "to represent food, nothing else. I'm not a racist. I'm a German Jew whose (grandparents) had to leave Germany. Why would I be racist? But I was angry and upset about what (Obama) is going to do to this country," Fedele said. "He's going to return it to the welfare state.

OK, a.) I hate that apology that isn't an apology. I'm sorry if YOU were offended by my racist rantings. Not, I'm sorry I'm a damn racist.

And b.) if she expects us to belive those images were meant to "represent food" she must believe we're as big of idiots as McCain's "Obama is an Arab" rally-goers.

Mmm. Interesting. Tough call.

I'm going to say the one on the right.

You say "...not all Republicans are bigots" like it matters. It may be that not all Republicans are bigots, however, they support a political party that panders to and encourages bigots. That is a difference which is no difference at all.

Agreed, SFJoe. That most do it to save marginal income at tax time makes it even more perverse.

so i had the pleasure of being in sacto when this story broke yesterday. the sacramento bee had the journalistic dignity to print all the offensive materials from the website in a nice image with a little border around it so it looked just like an advertisement.

Funny how the party that ended slavery now wants to reinstate it.

Xenu, talk about RINOs you have hit the nail on its ironic head. Then again, these are not the same democrats either.

They almost picked a woman. Who wore trousers!

McCain vs. Obama: How Could the Next President Affect Your Financial Plan?

Voyant: Which Candidate Can You Afford?

Really cool.

Both ads are disgusting and an embarrassment to California. Ms. Fedele is just adding additional insult by suggesting anyone should believe her excuse. Today's Ku Klux Klan is subtler than her Obamabucks "joke." Her Jewish ancestors should be ashamed.

I don't know about you guys, but Kool-Aid, ribs and watermelon sounds like the perfect meal to me. Of course I make my Kool-Aid with vodka but that's a regional thing.
