Futile Nader Protest at Market and Powell Today

Maybe if we post this, the Nader team will stop clogging the SFist inbox with its daily barrage of unsolicited emails. Let's find out, shall we?
TODAY'S BAY AREA EVENTS FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS CALENDAR4 p.m. NADER PROTEST _ Supporters of Ralph Nader and other candidates will gather to protest the exclusion of third party candidates from the presidential debates. Location: Downtown San Francisco, at Market Street and Powell Street, San Francisco Contact: Rusty Stephens (909) 225-2484
Have at it, politically-minded readers.

You got to have a cutoff, Ralph, otherwise you have an unwieldy number of people up on the stage.
This guy here actually maybe might have had a chance to win (like around 1% or so) if things had gone the right way back in 1992 - his appearance at a national debate was a debacle.

I still wanna bitch-slap Nader over Florida 2000.
I used to think that Gonzalez had a useful role in SF government as a member of the Green Party. Now I see he is just an egomaniac like Nader.
VP experience: stint on Board of Supes and failed mayoral campaign. Makes Palin look like an experienced politician.
It's funny as now is a time that we really should be listening to Nader, although I will not vote for him (as I didn't vote for Gonzo for Mayor, how can a vote for him for VP). He is no longer saying that the Gore and Bush are the same, the chance that Obama will not win is pretty close to zero, and at this point Nader is actually a needed foil to call Obama on his moves to the right. People of the left should realize that Obama supports capital punishment, has spoken out against gun control, has given very little to the effort to defeat prop 8 (which will take away needed rights for millions of Californians), doesn't support UNIVERSAL health care. Unfortunately instead of moving the country in a positive direction with all of these issues, Obama has succeeded in moving the left to the right.
Yup.
Aw, Brock, you're just encouraging nutters like Nader by posting their events!
By the way, why didn't Nader pick Cindy Sheehan as a running mate? That's a match made in . . . well, somewhere.
because cynthia is out of her goddamn mind, thinking authorities bug phones now the way they did in the '50s.
for reals, she is a different kind of nuts.
Obama has succeeded in moving the left to the right.
Duh, it's called politics...you know, appeal to the masses. Like saying you won't raise taxes and then doing it anyways once you're in
I'm not so sure these aren't what he actually believes, it's not like he has a huge history of actually making the right votes for the things I believe in. On top of it all this pandering isn't going to change HIS election chances, but it may very well change the outcome of Prop 8, peoples views on the death penalty or single payer healthcare.
I might have voted for McCain if he hadn't done the 180 that he did from his 2000 position. I voted for him in the republican primaries in 00 and in 08. That's before he got batshit crazy and started licking religious right nutsack.
In 00, I voted for Nader, and I PERSONALLY feel responsible for having the numbnuts GW in for 8 years. Had the Nader votes gone the other way, Bush II would never have happened, many many thousands of folks would still be alive (American and Iraqi) and our economy wouldn't be in the shitter.
Though I strongly believe in a third (or at least more than 2) parties, this election is too critical to be fucking around with idealism.
Nader may have been a factor in getting Bush elected, but it was the Democrats who for 8 years completely rolled over and did little fight back.
At least Nader is around to stand firm against our idiotic President and Congress.
ASSUMING YOU WILL VOTE FOR NADER IN ANY BATTLEGROUND STATE. I WILL CAST ONE CALIFORNIA VOTE FOR NADER FOR ONE VOTE FOR OBAMA IN YOUR RESPECTIVE BATTLEGROUND STATE.
Listen, Nader was never allowed on the debates because The Commission on Prwesidential Debates stated that he presumbably diditn have enough impact towin. Then when Gore lost he was called a "spoiler" So he did have a impact? Which one is it? The commission knew that if he debates thathis polls would go way up.
Also, do we say that Mcain is poiling Obamas election? Of course not.
And Gore chose not to fight for the title of president as he had won originally. So, the title was stolen from him. So, the blame is with the powers that be in the election government body. Not with a presidential nominee.
@djburrito, maybe there are better sites to make that offer?
@periqueblend
I know i tried all the old sites they had in 2000 and 2004 but none of them worked. I am going to have to trade via craigslist or something. I feel like im selling a kidney or something. Either way i got it planned. They vote and then have to take a picture and send it via email to me showing a current newspaper picture with it and then i do the same.
The Dems lost the 2000 election. To blame Nader is avoiding the core issues of Democratic pandering and lack of a coherent strategy.
I look forward to the day when third-party politics gain a foothold and it isn't just expected that the two sides of the corporate party are the only potential winners.
if you call them " third party" politicians you legitimize the concept of a two party system.
Just sayin.
True. That's why I do it.
Third parties suck. See Canada.
Brock, that's not so far from the truth because it's much easier these days. Especially since most of our communications are now in text and on phones with built in tracking. Friend of mine was doing research for a book, about the middle east and terrorism, both at the library and on his home, and homeland security paid him a visit to ask many pointed questions.
If you think for a second that nsa and homeland security aren't screening all electronic communications, you are clearly not paying attention.
And this is in no way an endorsement of sheehan. just sayin.
