Fleet Week 2008 Saturday Parade of Ships Cancelled

ship%20parade%20cancelled.jpg

A bit suspicious since tomorrow calls for clear skies and 10-20mph winds. But according to the U.S.Navy:

"The Parade of Fleet Week Ships that was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008, has been cancelled. Due to unfavorable water conditions, the U.S. Navy regretfully advises that the ships will instead arrive on the morning of Sunday, October 12, 2008.

"The flight schedule for Fleet Week 2008 will remain the same, including the Blue Angels flying Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Ship tours may be delayed slightly."

Alas. Read more about it at SF Citizen.

Hmmm, I clearly read that at "water" conditions, which often times have very little to do with "weather" conditions, just ask your neighborhood surfers.

Why not just bar them altogether? Cmon, did Supervisor Daly take a vacation this weekend?

The waves were pretty dangerous yesterday. Wouldn't surprise me if the conditions were still less than ideal for a ship parade.

The surf has been blown out since the middle of the week. Today is the first day it's actually looking rideable.
