SFist Tonight

FILM: Jim Henson's merry band of felt stoners take over Dolores Park when The Muppet Movie (1979) screens for free. Bring your favorite beer in a bag, some snacks, a blanket, and enjoy the final remnants of warm-ish weather while watching this classic kids movie, featuring a slew of guest stars ranging from Orson Welles to Madeline Kahn.

7 p.m. // Dolores Park (18th Street and Dolores Street) // FREE

MUSIC: "Gypsy polka pirate punks" Diego's Umbrella open up for Little Cow (Budapest, rock) and Plastic People of the Universe (Prague, rock) in SoMa tonight.

POLITICAL VAUDEVILLE EXTRAVAGANZA: Lee Press-on & the Nails, Mark Growden, Kitten on The Keys, 1 Man Banjo, 5 Cent Coffee, Kelly McCubbin & the Uke Apocalypse, Brass Farthing, the Whistleaires. magician Eric Masters, burlesque troupe the Indra, Honey LeBang, and. Yoyo Genius give it up for Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama at the aptly-titled Obama-rama! Local "comedy legend" Johny Steele emcees the political festivities.

Dammit. I should have read this before I settled in for a night of doing absolutely fuck-all.

Interesting that the Plastics are playing here while Rock 'n Roll is running in town as well considering, well, a lot of it centers around them.

Oh SNAP! I stand happily corrected. I knew Rainbow Connection was on another album but I was trusting the otherwise all knowing Amazon for my information.

A quick ebay search reveals the cheapest copy of the CD has a starting bid of $79.99. And now I'm sad again.

 

Brock, you missed listing a free concert by Paula West last night. She's doing a paid gig at Herbst tonight.
