What's Going On Here, Pelosi Hater?

Photos by Jim Herd
Cynthia Sheehan showed up at the steps of city hall to protest Newsom and Arnold's latest attempt to murder puppies, or whatever. An estimate 60 or so people showed up to today's protest.

Happy to see Cindy made the rally, but here's what was going on:
Stop the Mayor from Playing Petty Politics with Homeless People’s Lives!
While San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors was on vacation, Mayor Newsom cut $4.8 million from our city’s vital social services for elderly, poor, disabled, and homeless residents. In an unprecedented move, the Mayor ran around the Supervisors by cutting what they had just restored, and undercut the people of San Francisco. Among these cuts:
1) $400,000 to Tenderloin Health, which means it will have to cut its operating hours in half. The center serves over 300 homeless and poor people a day with health and hygiene, shelter, housing, food, and medical.
2) The entire Disability Eligibility Application Program. This program assists impaired homeless people get disability benefits.
3) 12 housing subsidies for homeless families.
These cuts will make it much more difficult for people trying to get back on their feet to get shelter, and for people with disabilities to get financial assistance. Several other programs have been cut, and there are more cuts to come.
The Mayor made these cuts in an apparent vendetta against union workers standing up for their rights. (SF Chronicle). Our City’s budget is larger than it has ever been, yet the Mayor is stealing money from social services so that he can add more Sacramento bigwigs to his payroll—like the two imported top staff added last month.
Newsom as the Terminator? That doesn't even make sense as a visual metaphor.
Those sound like extremely sensible cuts to me. In case you hadn't noticed, there's a credit crisis going on which makes it more expensive for the city to borrow. So everyone has to give a little, including the homeless. Come join us in the real world, it's great!
Plus, I'm really hating on Cindy now. I don't care if she invented a cure for hemorrhoids tomorrow, she just makes me turn off.
I just can't decide if I hate Cindy or Pelosi more.
But her campaign volunteers are just so darned nice, aren't they?
(God, I think I'm channeling Sarah Palin now...)
why is SFist under a blue-ish hue? what happened to the cream-ish brown?
or is that just the pill salad i had for lunch kicking in?
I can see it now...the mayor sitting at his desk thinking "Hmmmm, how can I get revenge against union workers?!? Oh, I know...I'll cut programs that benefit disabled homeless people. That'll learn 'em!"
Cindy sucks.
I wonder what the free food was?
Maybe some San Francisco non-profits need to learn the art of fundraising while the City's budget requires cuts ... go talk to Mimi at DeLancey Street, and learn how to be a self-sufficient human service non-profit.
Oh yeah ... Cindy is the Sarah Palin of progressive candidates in San Francisco ... an idiot savant whose celebrity will soon pass ...
