Pub War Deathmatch: Amanda Witherell vs. C.W. Nevius
Guurrl, hold her earrings! Amanda Witherell comes out swinging in her recent post, "Nevius: check your facts. See, it's a response to C.V Nevis' recent article on, you guessed it, homelessness (Changing S.F. street behavior in small ways), which points out the rampant panhandling outside the Moscone Center. And Witherell moves left, she moves right, she goes at it full force with the esteemed Chron columnist about stuff like, um, meetings. Or people not liking SF when they get here. Or statistics. Or...something. Anyway, if you can't get enough deathmatch fun, also be sure to check out tonight's Litquake events here. One involves Tobias Wolff, the other Dennis Lehane. (SFBG, SFGate)

Oh, I thought this was Ireland's 32 vs the Mad Dog. Out the back, shirts off, bare knuckle.
There were bums, transients and homeless abound before Moscone Center, while it was being built and now that it is the feces and urine stained centerpiece for conventions. Well played.
Get thine ass over to 6th or 7th and Market and tell me why the geographical center of San Francisco is still - after so many years - STILL a complete shit hole. I won't even get going on the TL. Absolute disgrace and failure by every politician who has ever thought he was a leader.
Even a sewer like Philly figured out how to get the scum out of the center of town.
This place is shameless.
I think its stems from the belief that those people though poor, still have rights. Being poor is not yet a crime after all.
Oh good Lord. A battle between the half-assed journalism of the Bay Guardian and their so-called journalists who couldn't pass a high school journalism class, and the half-assed journalism of the Chronicle and CW Nevius, who write a paper so thin on substance and so boring, they're losing a million dollars a day.
if this is what passes for journalism these days, no wonder this city is run by idiots like the Board of Stupidvisors.
Your summarizing is inaccurate.
Nevius's article does not point out "rampant panhandling outside the Moscone Center." It claims that tourists have been "appalled at aggressive panhandling, drug dealing and public urination" and, later on in the article, that the Workgroup is "talking about things like extra enforcement of panhandling laws in touristy areas such as Moscone Center."
Your summary makes it sound as if Nevius's article -- and the Workgroup itself -- finds the panhandling issue to be particularly problematic around Moscone.
