Saturday gourmet ghetto scene captured by Rebecca Wegley who tells us, "I was walking near 18th & Dolores in SF this weekend and came across five adorable young girls selling lemonade. They were so cute with their homemade Obama t-shirts (not to mention SMART) I just had to photograph them!"

That's awesome. Though their parents should have told them that's a Mercedes symbol, not a Peace sign. Good intentions though, so hard to fault.

Their parents also shoulda told them that it's "Kids for Obama," not "Kid's for Obama."

But for Obama nonetheless.

too bad they cant vote.
kids and politics is a bit weird. lemonade sure sounds good rite now.

OH NOES, a misplaced apostrophe, my pet peeve. Eh, I'll give em a break and points for being politically involved at such a young age.

white kids standing in front of bi-rite play-acting at the false sentimentality of a lemonade stand who's name is portmanteau-ed into politically resonant word should not be misplacing their apostrophes.

@ periqueblend

when, exactly, did your soul die?

Call me when they set one of these up in Alamo. Obama support in the Mission? That's the first place I think of when considering where he needs help. It's a wonder he hasn't appeared here since the Dovre...er, Women's Building thing a while back.

Little pals of terrorism.

When I was little, (let's say around the time of Reagan/Mondale election) I seem to remember that it was considered ethically questionable for children to publicly endorse candidates and to participate so directly in the political process. Is this just a sign of changing social mores, or am I misremembering the Reagan era?

turtle: possibly both.

Maybe the apostrophe is a contraction, thus indicating who she is presently supporting.

i.e. "Kid is supporting Obama."

I might be even more appropriate if her name is "Kid".

generic: sometime during Reagan's first term.

No way that kid is called Kid. Parents now only name their kids after inanimate objects (Brick), or sports seasons (Track). That future Republican (she's about a year away from doing a 180 from everything her parents believe) is probably called Gossip, Table, or Coin or something equally twat-like.

it would have been more adorable if she'd written the "s" in "kid's" backwards

Table is really more of a boy's name.

(with thanks to Tina Fey for that joke)

Love the picture...would use it in an ad if I could get the OK!

Maybe someone thought it would be "cute" and "child-like" to put misplaced apostrophes and Mercedes Benz symbols on their t-shirts. To me, it's just testament to a poor education system.

But, yay! Children for Obama. I guess they prefer that we don't spend their social security for them.

"my parents taught me to stand up for their beliefs."
