Sigur Ros @ the Greek

The Sigur Ros show in Berkeley on Friday night was notable for the rabidity of the fans, the beauty of the music, and the cooperation of the elements. Fans on the front row arrived at 10:30 am (for the 9 pm set). The ethereal pop/rock of Sigur Ros was perfect for the ampitheater setting. And when did the deluge begin? During the final encore, as if on cue. Oh, yah, and Jared Leto was there too. What did y'all think?

It was an amazing show. This was my third time seeing them, and the first time seeing them without their string section, Amiina. I was worried that the lack of strings, which is so important and intertwined in their sound, would be a disappointed but I was wrong.

When the rain started pouring during the encore, it was just simply mind-numbing.

I also took some pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chartno3/sets/72157607737057833/

The RAIN during the encore! I walked home soaking wet. "allur rennvotur, engin gummistigvel." It was beautiful.

it was great! the rain closed the show right on cue. I've never seen them so close (10 rows back, stage right) and it added a different layer to the show I had never experienced before. the opener left much to be desired, but who cares-- we weren't there to see them. the show totally made up for missing MBV earlier in the week.

Magical. Absolute evidence of the divine. I actually didnt really dig em before this show.

absolutely incredible show. the crowd's enthusiasm, the ethereal music, and of course the weather all came together to make something special.. been trying to describe it to people, but i think in the end you were either there, or you weren't.

Ginger, you didn't miss much at the MBV show. Band is awesome, venue absolutely terrible.

I was soaking wet by the time we got back to BART, but the show was amazing.

seeing sigur ros live is like a religious experience. this was definitely an amazing show (and that rain.. that rain!!). hope they come back real soon.

although walking back to my bus stop in the rain wasn't exactly as awe-inspiring.
