Oh please, apologists! He's a sex crimes DA. According to press reports, his lawyer claims that this behavior was consensual. And some posters here imply they have had sex with him and he wouldn't do this. Well, his counsel says otherwise. But more importantly, how many defendants made the same claims and arguments to him while they were being prosecuted, and he laughed while he sent them away for decades? How many family members and friends insisted that defendants he prosecuted wouldn't engage in such behavior - and there was a belated complaint about the sex crime, with the victim the only witness? Getting a taste of one's own medicine is sometimes bitter indeed.

Sweetli's opinion clearly proves the man innocent...he's too sensitive in bed to rape anyone! It's quite pathetic to accuse the cops, DA and the victim of conspiring to put away an innocent man...because you don't 'feel' like he's guilty. As pathetic as the defenders Bill Clinton, Larry Craig, Ted Haggard & Bernie Ward.

This is not going to ruin Michael, he will fight, win and go back to what God has called him to do. Hopefully, this will bring light to the garbage that goes on in that DA's office. Man we have politics in our county but for the sake of justice. There are too many other ways to ruin someone. I hope the next election is based on factual records, not token committees and who will make the best puppet for a retiring DA not quite ready to let go of his power, which is all Kochly is in my opinion.

Excuse me? Don't you mean go Ducks or most definitely go RAIDERS! It's been a bit but I distinctly remember sharing a game or two in the rain with him. :-). I too hope the truth comes out before a trial. Michael might use his trial brilliance to impress a woman but I can tell you this world is a lot less safe without him doing his job. I always was safe with him. He was a very empowering friend who wanted accountability for the leadership of a deterioating county. I grew up there and would like answers.

Hi Llenoway. I am glad you posted your thoughts and support. I agree with you. Michael is no rapist. He is not violent, and is humble, regarding any power he may have. I think we may learn there was indeed a scorned woman, mixed with some ugly politics. I pray he isn't charged at all. And in the spirit of Michael, I gotta end by saying: GO COWBOYS!

Hi sweetli. I too know Michael and have intimate knowledge that if sex is not enjoyable for both him and his partner Michael simply won't continue. He cant, it ruins it. So for me, I thought not of the current DA but the prior one. Or a woman scorned, either with a bad reputation or by the fact he may have had other lady friends. Either way there is nothing that will convince me of his guilt ever, especially given the number of innocent citizens our government has set up. He simply is not capable.

This is devastating to the legal community in Contra Costa county, and surrounding areas. Gressett is well loved by his peers, his victims, police officers, and even defense attorneys, AND yes, sometimes even defendants. I have talked to lots of folks today, and not one person believes these charges. Gressett is no rapist, and even if he fit the profile in any way, he understands the consequences. He is s brilliant trial attorney. I predict that this is a political scandal. Surely I could be wrong, but the current D.A. is no friend of Gressett's, as he has run against Gressett, and exposed some things he would have liked to remain unknown. I think we will see how politics are at play at every level of government. I will be the first to admit, if indeed I am wrong. But, I hope people will keep an open mind, as this will definitely ruin his career, which he loves so much, and has put so much of himself into. He has been accused of rape, sodomy, oral copulation and penetration with a foreign object, all by fear. All are serious felonies. Again, I hope the public can keep an open mind, as the facts emerge.

@ what - If it's nonconsensual, or done w/ an underage person, yes. Newspapers just use the shorthand instead of specifying "forcible," usually.
