San Franciscans Like Obama, Hate Two and a Half Men, Says New York Times

arugula_one_month.jpg

Those left-wing extremists, Sarah Palin gang-rapists, and Zionist hoodlums over at the New York Times came to town to write about politics and San Francisco. (No, not about the increasingly-retarded local SF political scene -- because that's what it's become, a scene -- and those who choose to revel in it.) In a nutshell, Jennifer Steinhauer's article talks about how we get damp over Barack Obamat, that us Bay Area folk, it seems, take pride in being "unreasonable and unshaven," and that we prefer arugula over McDonald's (it's spicy tang really is irresistible) over other red-state cities. Oh, and there's something in there about the imploding economy, or whatever. So: nothing new, really.

But Steinhauer does manage to get a good quote from a local attorney with a delightful last name, Joel Muchmore, who says, "It's frustrating to live in a city where everyone assumes that because you share airspace you also share political views." Word, Muchmore.

Oh, and there's a nifty shot of local twinks skateboarding at the Embarcadero accompanying the article (why not?), so it's definitely worth a look for that reason alone. (NYT)

Arugula really is better than McDonald's.

Speak for yourself.

Arulgula, thy taste is ass.

Actually, I always thought Two and Half Men had a touch of foul wit to it that wouldn't play as well in, say, Birmingham, Alabama.

I looked at the photo slide show they had up from their tour which includes one picture from the folsom street fair. The caption says something about how many different subcultures are here. . . and how we're trendsetters? And that our plastic bag policy is now spreading across the country. For some reason, I don't think the former and latter are really that intertwined. And Main St. leather daddies are still a ways off, I think.

san franciscans are weaklings
