@Akit: Disabled cars are temporarily towed there until they can be moved back safely to Green Division (though there's not much difference), or it could have been some temporary problem and could have been restored to enhance afternoon rush hour.

My wife cam downtown from the Sunset to meet me for lunch. She just got back home just now after leaving downtown about 2:45 and told me they're still running the N to Church and having people walk to Church and Duboce to catch it from there. Blech.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture that what happened is what some have observed here and on N Judah Chronicles. The driver forward accelerated beyond reasonable bounds for such a tight turn and the back end of the car whipped the car off the tracks.

How the hell did that thing get into the Doboce yard where the really old historic trolleys park? Wouldn't the driver have sense the urge to stop his two car train once the train started to turn? Looks like the driver let the first car through the tight turn, then the second car took the wham.
