A little after 8 a.m. this morning, an unidentified man was struck by a car on Mission Street (between 21st and 22nd streets). As he was taken to SF General to be treated for life-threatening injuried, "emergency personnel were performing CPR on" him. (CBS 5)
Update: The pedestrian, a 45-year-old gentleman, died at San Francisco General Hospital today. And according to the Gate, "the car, a Jaguar, hit the pedestrian and several parking meters before it finally stopped when it struck a tree." The driver of said convertible Jag was arrested.

I heard a helicopter circling the area a little after 8am when I was getting out of bed and figured something was up. Sorry to hear it was something like this.
What? An arrest was made???
I'm sure he'll bail out before sundown. Mowing someone down with a car seems to be the one sure-fire way to kill someone and get away with it.
i was there roughly 2 min after it happened before paras were on the scene, and the one thing that the story isnt saying is "why" he did this. There was no direct evidence to suggest anything from intent to having a seizure.
it was a very sad sight, and i want to thank the others who helped me to clear the crowd and get help.
for those of you who moved in close to take photos while he was laying there...i cant even think of what to say.
It's open season on pedestrians across the country
