Where to Watch Tonight's Debate
Hey, the debate is back on tonight! John McCain dried his tears and will head over to the University of Mississippi to get reamed by Barack Obama. Exciting stuff, folks! Tonight's topic: foreign policy. Zzzzz, right? But at one of these venues, you'll have have plenty of comfort juice by your side to keep things interesting.
- 2 LIPS Bar & Lounge (1414 Market (at 10th Street): three flat screens, $2 beers, loads of wonks
- Inner Mission, 3349 - 20th Street (at Shotwell)
- The Page (Page and Divisadero): three flatscreens, happy hour specials, snacks
- The Mix, 4086 - 18th Street (at Castro): queers, beers
- 500 Club, 500 Guerrero (at 17th Street): Four flatscreen HDTVs, bar snacks, drink specials, Polaroid photo booth, "a lovely bartender"
- Ten 15 Folsom, 1015 Folsom (at Sixth): special guests Kamala Harris and Leland Yee, hosted by Obama for America
- Kezar Pub, 770 Stanyan (at Waller): official meeting place of the Obama campaign Cole Valley/Upper Haight group

Any all-ages/18+ establishments showing the big game?
tyler: most bars/lounges do not card that early. just don't buy drinks and keep a low profile =P.
Bah, Obama for America asks you to RSVP but their site is "down for maintenance."
Obama for America's Media Director tells me that a) the site is overloaded (since many assumed the debate was a no-go), and b) you can still attend without RSVPing first.

Oskarv-I'll get tons of street cred for going to bars to watch the debate, right? I might check one of these out.
i'm counting on 2lips not carding, my bf isn't 21, and i'm taking him with me. i've found that it's relatively easy to get into SF bars without ID as long as you go before ~10:30....and some bars never have people checking IDs even after that time.
I think the debate starts at 6, not 5.
CNN and others are reporting it to start at 5pm PT ...
We'll have to wait and see, eh?
I'm going to watch it at a house party in NoeValley/GlenPark and NO ya'll are not invited!

Obama needs to go on a weight gaining campaign, or grow a big fro. Ever since that guy mentioned he looked like Curious George I cannot get it out of my head, even though McCain looks like Jiminy Crickett.:(
