Ask SFist: Prez Debate at Bars?

eightballsfistprez.jpg

Reader Chris writes SFist to ask the following:

Do you guys know if any bars/lounges plan on broadcasting the presidential debate on Friday?

Hmm. Well, we know about this one happening at the Roxie. But that has those-who-laugh-self-consciously-loud-at-Shakespearian-comedies-in-the-Embarcadero-Cinemas attendees written all over it.

Does anybody (or any bar managers/employees) have word on whether or not their favorite watering hole will show Friday's Presidential debate? Let us know in the comment. Please. Then, on Friday afternoon, we'll cull them into a post.

Need an answer? Send you most private curiosities and intimate questions here.

Update: McCain is attempting to delay the debate date because he knows Obama will fillet, sear, and broil his pruned ass on the economy. Probably should sell one of his 48931759834 homes or cars on Craigslist to help out. Anyway, stay tuned. Friday's debate might not happen.

Considering Coward McCain is attempting to delay the debates (because he knows Obama can bodyslam him on the economy), any bars or lounges who have scheduled a watch party may have jumped the gun.

Bah, this ticks me off. Obama better not agree to this.

Suppose Kezar Pub may have jumped that gun then...

Rumor has it they'll be showing it.

2 Lips Bar and Lounge on Market Street will be showing the debate. There are 3 flat screens and $2 beers to fuel the fire during the debate. Plenty of political junkies will be there.

1414 Market cross is Tenth.

The great patriot John S. McCain has suspended his campaign and has requested that the debate be postponed so that he can save us from the financial crisis.

Now we can go to the bars for all the right reasons on Friday.

But he's still on Letterman tonight. The economy can't be that bad.

Um, well I guess if it does happen I know that they will be showing it at Inner Mission at 20th & Shotwell in the Mission.....

2 Lips it is, then. How early should I get there?

The Page @ Page and Divisadero is hosting the debate. 3 flatscreens with happy hour specials and snacks. See you there.

I wonder if Yancey's or Fireside will show it?

Yancey's has wifi. But the place actually smells like John McCain

I will be appearing at the Mucky Duck, in blackface, as Barack Obama.

Anyone want to volunteer a grandparent with dementia to debate me?

Fizzandpop:
Actually McCain canceled that too.

Wonkette says the debate is back on.

I think I'll check out the debate at The Page. They have 21 beers on tap and it's a mere hop and a skip on my new chainless track bike...

Careful not to run the light and slam into a parked car on the way, TAYM.

The Page is always a good spot.

I dunno about the debates, but I watched the 2006 elections roll in at the Valley Tavern, 24th @ Noe.

Good to know the Page will be showing all this.

The Mix (by 18th & Castro) usually tunes into any political broadcasts. though you may have to stay in the front section, where the biggest widescreen tv is to actually hear it.

I watched the 2004 elections roll in at Valley Tavern - clearly the Valley Tavern is bad luck.

And by the way guys - this week's debate (if it happens) - is on Foreign Policy, not the Economy.

@murphastahoe: True, but come on, with the widespread ignorance blooming throughout this country, do you really think most people know this? It looks like cowardice, pure and simple, even to the slack jawed morons who think Obama wants to take away their right to hunt (seriously, someone on NPR this morning cited this as a reason for voting for McCain).

those-who-laugh-self-consciously-loud-at-Shakespearian-comedies-in-the-Embarcadero-Cinemas attendees written all over it.

WTF Brock? Since when do young voters "laugh self consciously loud at Shakespearian comedies"? How old are you? McCain's age? Crypt keeper?

youngvoter, i am from the elizabethan era. clearly.

That's right after the Pleistocene Era, right?

The 500 Club at 17th St. & Guerrero will be showing the debate as well. 4 flat screen HDTVs, bar snacks, drink specials, Polaroid photo booth, and a lovely bartender. (Also, the carpet there has been replaced with beautiful hardwood floors - come see the new look!)

haw! i heard mcsame wants to reschedule the canceled presidential debate IN PLACE OF the VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE next week.

gee, did anyone not see that one coming?

hmmmm. makes ya wonder if THAT'S why the debate was canceled in the first place.

~~~gogo
Any word on bars showing the Vice Presidential debate on Thursday?
