A little before 2 a.m. this morning, a bicyclist was shot and killed at 15th Avenue near Cabrillo Street. The incident occurred after an argument "with at least two men," during which one of them pulled out a gun and shot the cyclist.
According to the Gate, "the victim dropped his bicycle in the street and knocked on some doors for help before collapsing outside a set of flats on Cabrillo." No arrests have been made.
This comes on the heels of yet another murder of a man on a bike. This killing, which happened before 10 p.m. last night, went down at 38th and Allendale avenues in Oakland. No arrests have been made in this case as well.

in other cycling news - there is a new light at masonic and fell!
omg!
i almost took a photo but was late to work and some guy in a truck was running his new light and people were honking at him to hurry up and run me over but HUZZAH the new light is finally in!
What kind of cyclists stops to argue with two guys at 2am?
the world will be a different place when cyclists start packing some heat
What kind of cyclist? The kind of tries to defend himself when thugs try to knock him off of his bike late at night to steal or rob him.
They've tried it with me 3 times in 20 years, with no luck.
There seems to be a lot of road rage out there these days. Guns and cars are a bad combination. One deadly weapon would be enough...
there's also a pretty new yield sign at masonic and fell. i share your joy, whosthatdog.
The comment section on sfgate is one big anti-bike hate fest.
Doesn't matter if it was a bicyclist, roller blader, skateboarder, pedestrian or another driver..
The simple fact is.. 2 people were shot and killed last night.. and the suspects are on the loose.
Just because they were on a bicycle, doesn't make them any less of a victim.
Fixie backlash is getting out of hand.
Well the psychotic nut jobs on SFGate would probably spew violent anti-sandal nonsense if asked to comment on the murder of someone murdered while walking in sandals. I doubt these murders had anything to do with bicycling.
For all we know, this guy could have been an addict on a stolen bike who got involved in a bad drug deal on his way to his camp in the park.
Just because he was on a bike, doesn't mean he is a hipster on a fixy who was just trying to reduce his carbon footprint.
Chron 4 had a picture of the bike. It was a high-end road bike with an expensive-looking lamp. Not a fixie. Apparently not a theft attempt, since they left the bike and, presumably, the rider's wallet.
I'm guessing road rage. In old fashioned Boston, a middle finger gets you a middle finger in return. In progressive San Francisco, it gets you shot.
HEY SCOPA
This guy was not an addict on a stolen bike.
He was one of the friendliest guys I have ever met. Of course, the news has hardly any info on the full story. He's not the kind of guy to pick a fight with some stranger on the street.
This was a real person who was murdered, ...should not be slandered on some website by some insensitive tool.
is this the jordan who blogged about the wine country?
damn, very sad...SFgate has the full story now...but, of course once it became known that the victim was an ordinary guy, and not a gangbanger or crackhead, the article was immediately buried in the crime section, with no links from any other part of the site. Gotta protect SF's image, I guess. can't let those tourists know that innocent people are getting gunned down for no reason.
This happend right next to my house. I woke up to all the racket of the TV Van's setting up around 4am.
Cabrillo has a nice bike lane which runs from Arguello down to Ocean Beach - it tends to be a pretty well traveled route even late at night for cyclists.
14th and 15th where they intersect at Cabrillo tend to be tension points for both drivers and cyclists. 14th we have people racing to beat lights on Park Presido and we've had lots of close calls at Cabrillo and 14th.
15th and Carbrillo 4way stop - cyclists don't stop which is the norm no biggie- but we get the rushing drivers shooting up 15th to Fulton that run the signs also. If it was a road rage situation very possible he ran into trouble at 14th and it stopped at 15th or all happend at 15th.
Bike was a nice Greg Lemond - road bike triple chain ring with nice LED high output light. I never heard the gun shots even though it was 4 doors from mine.
I hope they catch the person - someone on edge like that shouldn't be on the streets. No telling who they could injure or kill.
