222 Club Says Goodbye

Pft. 222 Club, that stellar little nightspot/safe haven/afterhours in the Tenderloin, is closing. Boo. In addition to big and not-so-big DJ lineups, the folks who worked there were super swell. When a blackout hit the TL years ago, the bartender, not wanting to close or be alone, poured free, top-shelf tequila down the throats of anybody who would keep her company at the bar. We don't recall how we got home that night, but we do remember it as one of the best nights ever. The curtain comes down on October 1. (ASD)

i wanted to throw a party there. le sigh.

I only was there twice but thought it was a great place each time. It's a great space.

Bummer! I liked that bar. Perhaps because they charged covers when no one was inside?
